SPEC-TACULAR!!

Hello!!

And happy Wednesday!! Its officially the peak of the week!! Were officially on the way to the weekend!!

Recently I decided I fancied trying out a new style of glasses, I tend to always go for the same style and shape. I really wanted to get what I would call ‘geek’ glasses but I convinced myself before even trying them on that they wouldn’t suit me…..

Whilst Phil and I having a weekend away a little while ago we went into a glasses shop and I tried a few pairs on….. they didn’t look as bad as I’d thought. Phil even said they looked really good.

Still with price tags of £100+ I didn’t want to take the plunge then and there in case I changed my mind. Then I remembered a website I’d got some very reasonably priced glasses from in the past called goggles4u.

So, I decided to have a look, and to my delight found a pair which were exactly what I was looking for, in the correct measurements for £9.95!!! So I ordered them and they arrived a few days ago. When I first tried them on, as I suspected would happen, as wasn’t too sure. I think this was just because the shape and size were so different. Everyone who I asked said they looked good. I decided to wear them on a night out.

He is a pic of the me in the glasses.

So, I think I will be buying some glasses form goggles4u again very soon – total bargain!!!!

Say hello to Betty & Freda :)

Hello and Happy Tuesday !! J

Today’s blog is not about a fashion bargain, but something more lovely than clothes that I was lucky enough to get for free……

As a born animal lover, it’s a been while due to various circumstances, since I had any pets.

I rescued two guinea pigs in the past, Hamlet & Othello, and loved them dearly. So, when Phil’s sister told me she knew of two piggy’s in need of a home, I didn’t hesitate.

So, I collected Betty & Freda on Saturday and I am happy to say after what must have been a terrifying start for them, they are gradually starting to settle in J

They were living outside L I have now brought them indoors and they seem much happier already. Today I bought a MASSIVE cage on eBay! Not really sure where it’s going to go yet, or even if it will go in my car, but I want my girls to have a palace J

I will keep you updated on their progress.

Keep reading and commenting J

Bejeweled

Hello everyone!

Can you believe it’s Monday again? I know we say it all the time, but really, where did the weekend go??

I am sorry I didn’t post over the weekend. It took me most of Saturday to recover from my friends amazing cocktail party on Saturday night! I did wear the dress from Fridays blog in the end.

We had an Amazing time and it really made me realise how lucky I am to have such fabulous friends J

So, I managed to get another bargain at the weekend! I popped into Asda Living to pick something up for my parents and decided to have a quick look at the clothes. They have some gorgeous new spring lines in store, there was a jumper I adored but they didn’t have it in my size so I will be keeping my eye out for that next time I visit!

I am trying to save some cash at the moment so managed to be well behaved. I got this gorgeous sheer blouse for just £5!! As I’ve mentioned in a previous post I am trying to pick styles and prints that I wouldn’t usually go for.

This blouse has a lovely jewel print which I think can easily be dressed up or down. I think for its first outing I will team it with my skinny faux leather trousers from Desire clothing which are now sold out L I am gutted about this as I wanted to get another pair, I love them so much. I am not totally sure which shoes I will wear yet, I guess it will be weather dependent! I am LOVING these heels from ASOS, just wish they were in my price range……….

I think I might add a bit of edge with my river island faux fur cropped gilet.....?

I LOVE these ASOS earrings I recently bought for myself. They go with almost anything and look much more expensive than they are J

I’d love to know what you think of my latest bargain, please comment J

TFI Friday!! :)

Hello!! Its FRIDAY!! YEYYYY

One of my friends is hosting an AMAZING cocktail party tonight. I can’t wait for the chance to catch up with all the girls and let my hair down.

Today got off to a very bad start (don’t ask!) so I am looking forward to tonight even more now!!

I’ve made some lovely Jelly Tots Vodka Jelly. I love Jelly Tots and love vodka jellies, so for me a perfect ‘adult’ mix up of my favourite childhood sweets!

Next onto the outfit…. I have been debating what to wear all week but I think I have settled on this gorgeous animal print midi peplum dress from ASOS.

As you would expect from me, this dress was a real steal in the sale it just £11.99!!
Not sure what to team it with yet??? Any suggestions?

I couldn’t believe it, I’ve been looking for another batwing top for a while now and I love the design of this one.
I plan to wear it with my new wet look leggings from River Island- and another bargain which I got about a month ago before I started this blog, these fab heels from New Look which I got for just £5.00!!

Good food...and good service :)

Hello and happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone is ok? I can’t believe it’s the 18th February already :0 where is this year going?

Today I wanted to tell you about the meal I had on Friday night. I wouldn’t normally blog about this but the customer service was so good, and that is so rare these days, I really feel it’s worth a mention.

Me and Phil went Zizzi’s in Durham for a meal as part of our Valentine’s date. http://www.zizzi.co.uk/venue/index/durham

I have to be totally honest, sometimes I very sceptical of 'chain' restaurant's as often the food is processed and the service is not good. This was not the case at all with Zizzi Durham. I booked the table online which was quick and easy. After I booked I had a text message and an email confirming my booking, as well as a text on the day to remind us.

I think this is a brilliant idea, especially for those of us who are always in a rush! We arrived slightly earlier than the 8 o’clock slot I had booked but were greeted immediately by a very professional member of staff who asked if we’d booked and under what name. I gave him my surname and he said ‘Welcome Jo’ which I though was a nice and attentive touch. We were showed to our table immediately and the service continued to be of the same standard all evening.

I chose the Skinny Bufala pizza which comes in at only 467 calories, brilliant of you fancy a lighter bite or are watching your waistline. It was delicious, I couldn’t fault a thing. Phil chose Lasagne and he said his was very nice also.

So if you are looking for somewhere to eat I would highly recommend Zizzi in Durham (they also have restaurants throughout the UK) Also, if you dign up to the newsletter on the website, you often received offers via email.

Well done Zizzi for the best customer service I’ve had while eating out for a long time J

Monday Blues.......

Hello and Happy Monday.

I hope you are all well today, if you are anything like me, it always takes a while to shake off the Monday blues. I always try to be positive and think of the reasons why Mondays are good.

So, today I’ve decided to post about something non fashion/bargain related!

As I said previously, we are about three quarters of the way through renovation our lovely home. We bought the house in September 2012 and decided it would be a good idea (well it seemed like it at the time!) to gut the whole place and start again whilst living in it :0
We now have two rooms left to complete, the dining room and the kitchen which isn’t bad going in five months! We still have lots of little jobs to do, even in the rooms that are complete, such as accessories, photos etc. I then want to start with creating  a lovely outdoor space, so lots to do!

One of the first rooms to be finished was the bathroom, so I thought I’d share this with you today.

This is how the bathroom looked when we first moved in:

We decided to knock through and make it one big room, this is how it looks now:

The final touch to the room will be some blinds. The windows aren’t standard sizes so I need to make an appointment with  local blind company to see what they can do!

We are so pleased with how the bathroom had turned out, we tried our best to do things on a budget but we also wanted quality. I think there’s  a nice mix of the two in this space.

As you would expect from me there are some real bargains in here! I won’t list every last thing but if there is anything you want to know, please just ask…….

The wall art is from www.amazon.co.uk via a company called JP Wall art UK. It was only £12.99 and looks fabulous (I think!) they have many other styles and colours.
The towels, bath mat, bin/sink accessories and bathrobe hanger are from Asda living where everything is reasonably priced and usually pretty good quality too.

I picked up the towel holder in Sainsbury’s in the January sales for £10! I think it give the bathroom a real ‘hotel’ feel. www.sainsburys.co.uk They increasingly have a lovely selection of home wares available.

The small plant and the ‘Bath’ sign on the shelf were real steals from B&M Bargains, both £1.99 each! www.bmstores.co.uk They look a lot more expensive than they were!

I buy a lot of candles and similar accessories from Wilkinson’s, I think there ranges are amazing, gorgeous and affordable! www.wilkinsonplus.com

Finally, the gorgeous flooring, which I absolutely love, is from B&Q www.diy.com

Until next time, stay safe and happy and enjoy the rest of your Monday :)

Spring is in the air......

Hello everyone!!
Hope you've had a lovely weekend. I can't believe its almost Monday again..... boo!
I've had a really busy weekend and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
The weathers been lovely too! After what seems like a lifetime of freezing weather, snow, ice and general gloom, we've seen the sun for three days in a row! I love that feeling when you can hear the birds singing, the daylight lasts loner and you can feel the spring is just around the corner.

The nice weather is making me feel so excited for spring and summer.
On that note I want to share with you one of my latest bargains. I recently discovered Forever 21 and I absolutely love it! www.forever21.com

I got this dress as part of a 'buy one, get one half price' promotion, meaning I got this dress for the most amazing price of £8.99!!

Its not my usual style of dress but I loved the colour and I really fancied a new maxi dress.

I'd love to know what you think of the dress, but more importantly, what would you team it with??
I'd love some suggestions :)

That Friday feeling x

Good Morning!

It’s Friday, and almost the start of the weekend! I am really looking forward to my belated Valentines date tonight.

I wanted to share another bargain dress I purchased recently with you.

I am thinking of wearing it tonight and would love to know what you think. This dress isn’t a style I would usually pick but the colour and the gold chain detail really caught my eye. Then I looked at the price tag and I saw this little beauty had been reduced from £29.99 to just £6 so I decided even if I bought it and never wore it, at that price I had to grab it.......didn't I?
(That's two dresses for a grand total of £10 in the last fortnight!)

Just in case you are wondering I got this dress from Peacocks www.peacocks.co.uk

I am thinking of dressing this up with these gold and black accessories and I’d love to know what you think……

Happy Friday everyone, have a great night, whatever you are doing :)

The day of love....................xoxo

Morning everyone and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

There are mixed opinions about Valentine’s day….personally, I love it.

I do agree it is used as a bit of a money-spinner, but I think a day dedicated to celebrating the people you love can only be a good thing!
I don’t think it has to be just for couples in love either, it’s a day to think of those dear to you and tell them that you love them.

I don’t think we tell our friends and family enough that we love them, even though they know, we should all try to say it more.

It’s a while since I had a little treat, so I had my nails done last night by the fabulous Carmen Therapeutics'. A valentine's gift to myself! :)

Carmen is based in the Newcastle upon Tyne area and comes to your home. I have had my nails done by Carmen a few times now and they have always been amazing, and they last up to 3 weeks!

Carmen uses Icon gel nails, she also offers many other treatments J
You can visit Carmen's facebook page here:

Here is a pic of my lovely nails, all ready for hitting the town with Phil tomorrow night :)

The bargain dress!!!

Good morning everyone!!

I promised to post about today about my most recent bargain ....
Like most girls I have rather a lot of clothes and shoes (but how much is too much??) but I wanted something new to wear for a date with Phil last Saturday night. I had already decided I'd like a dress with long sleeves cause its so cold at the minute. I had seen a bodycon midi dress on the New Look website which I quite liked so I decided to go and buy it.
When I got there it turned out they didn't have any in stock, so I had a nosey around. I really do love the feeling of bagging a bargain and somehow when you manage to get a really good one it doesn't matter that you didn't actually need it! After a good rake through the sale rails I though I wasn't going to get anything, then a lovely bright rose print caught my eye. I grabbed the hanger and found this dress:

It ticked all of the boxes - right size, long sleeves, bodycon, gorgeous print.
The best part of all though was looking at the tag and seeing that this dress had been reduced from £24.99 to just £4.00!! Yes £4.00!
I could hardly believe my eyes-I was sure when I got to the till I'd find it was too good to be true but it wasn't! So my Saturday night date outfit was sorted for less than my first glass of wine of the evening! I teamed this dress with some gold jewellery and black and gold clutch bag and cage heels.

On the subject of being thrifty and looking for bargains, as some of you will know, me and my fiancé have been renovating a house since September, we completely gutted the house and started again so there have been some trying times! Perhaps soon I will post some before and after photos so you can see what we've been up to..................

ohso......nice!

Hello!

I promised I'd let you know what I thought of my 'ohso' chocolate freebie.

I had my first bar today, and I  have to say I was very impressed. I was a little sceptical that it wouldn’t taste too good, what with all of the promises of ‘healthy’ chocolate.

The bars promise to contain 53% cocoa along with friendly bacteria and are wheat and gluten free.

I was sent the chocolate orange variety, as I love orange chocolate this made me very happy. I had the bar at morning break with my cup of green tea. Looking at the bar I have to say first impressions were that it was tiny!

In actual fact it was just the right amount. The chocolate is very rich so the portion size is just enough, good things so sometimes come in small packages J

All this at on 72 calories a bar, I think I will be ordering some more of these little lovelies!!

As I mentioned in my profile, I love a bargain. I got the most amazing fashion bargain at the weekend which I will share with you tomorrow………

xoxo

Everyone loves a freebie!!

I don't know anyone who doesn't love getting something for nothing. I subscribe to Zest magazine and noticed in the March issue there was an offer for free 'ohso' chocolate bars https://www.ohsolovesyourtummy.com. I love chocolate but I am also pretty health conscious so a chocolate bar which could be good for me certainly piqued my interest!!
The offer stated the first 1000 readers to fill out the form and send it off would receive 7 bars.
I decided it was worth the cost of a stamp and sent away the form. I am very sceptical about these 'offers' as in my experience it's very rare you receive anything. I love getting nice post when I come home from work so I was very excited today to find I had a little box waiting on the doormat! It was my free ohso chocolate!!
I will try my first ohso chocolate bar tomorrow and let you know how it was.....

My first ever blog :0 !!

If you are reading this, it means you have found my blog - yey!!
I've been thinking of blogging for over a year now but didn't have the confidence to do it. Now I've decided it's time to give it a go, I figure if no one reads it, it can be a place to write down my thoughts and feelings and create a bit of space in my crazy brain!

I am a pretty 'normal' (if there is such a thing!) twenty nine year old, my main passions in life are family, friends and my Fiancé. I am a self confessed adrenaline junkie, I am a 4th Dan black belt in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo and I am a rally co-driver! I love going to the gym and having fun.
I don't want to blog about any one thing in particular, just the things that make me happy :) x
